Who is an ideal candidate for a Neck Lift?
Deciding whether you need a Neck Lift is a personal choice that depends on your individual concerns and goals. However, several common signs and conditions may indicate that a Neck Lift could be beneficial for you.
1. Sagging neck skin: If your neck skin has started to droop or sag due to aging or after weight loss, a neck lift can help restore a more youthful and refreshed look.
2. Excess neck volume: When excess neck volume causes a less defined neck contour, a Neck Lift can make your neck look smoother and firmer.
3. Familial persistent fat deposits in the neck: that are not responding to weight loss, and which can form a double chin, can be efficiently addressed with a neck lift.
4. Neck bands: When you have one or more unwanted band lines in the neck, you can get rid of them with a neck lift, which removes or tightens these neck muscles.
6. Non-surgical Treatments no longer sufficient: While non-surgical treatments like Botox provide temporary smoothening of the neck bands, they may no longer be effective in addressing more advanced neck bands. In such cases, a surgical neck lift might be a better option.
7. Revision Neck Lift: In case of unsatisfactory results or complications following a previous neck lift, such as asymmetry or insufficient redefinition of the neck contour.
It’s crucial to consult with a qualified and experienced plastic surgeon to determine if you are a suitable candidate for a Neck Lift. During the consultation, I will assess your facial anatomy, discuss your concerns and expectations, and recommend the most appropriate approach to achieve your desired results.
The ideal patient is in good health and refrains from consuming alcohol and tobacco before and after their procedure, since it really affects wound healing and results.
To achieve optimal long lasting results it is important to have your desired weight before the operation.
Neck Lift Recovery
• Immediate Post-Operative: You may experience mild swelling, bruising, and discomfort, which can be managed with prescribed medications. Also you wear a pressure bandage in the first 2 weeks. If a drain is in place, it will be removed after 48 hours.
• First Week: Rest is crucial during this period. Keep your head elevated and avoid strenuous activities. Numbness in the operated area is normal. The swelling will continue to progress to a maximum at the end of the first week. You may experience some anxiety and feelings of panic in this period, thinking your neck will never be normal again. Let me assure you this is normal.
• 4-6 Weeks: Swelling and bruising will continue to subside, and you’ll notice significant improvements.
• 3 Months: The scars have started to become less noticeable, and the most swelling has disappeared, revealing a more refined and revitalized Neck contour.
• 6 Months: Any residual swelling or tightness will have completely resolved, leaving you with a comfortable and natural feel. By now, you will be able to fully appreciate the results of your Neck Lift.
